Sub-neighborhoods
From Boston Neighborhood Map
I realize I set myself up for this by attempting to draw a line between Allston and Brighton. However, I don't have the knowledge or the energy to break down each Neighborhood (as I've defined them) into viable, separate sub-entities. I know they exist, and I know there are good reasons to map them, but it's just not a project I want to undertake. Feel free to use this Wiki as a means for organizing such a project.
Some Sub-neighborhoods
This is a by no means an exhaustive list, just neighborhood regions I've heard people use in passing:
- Symphony (Fenway)
- West Fens (Fenway)
- Metting House Hill (Dorchester)
- Savin HIll (Dorchester)
- Upper Beacon Hill (Beacon Hill)
- Readville (Hyde Park)
- Lower Mills (Dorchester)
- Upham's Corner (Dorchester)
- Packard's Corner (Allston/Brighton)
Even Worse
Some really irritating regions of Boston exist across several neighborhoods. It makes sense if you think about it—hilly land/water making a natural boundary between neighborhoods and only being developed after the surrounding sections were taken—but it's no fun for mapping. These regions include:
- Chestnut Hill (Brighton, Brookline, Newton, possibly West Roxbury)
- South Bay ( Southie, Dorchester, South End, Chinatown)
